Upper Sandusky Community Library and the Star Theater are calling upon you to put your detective skills to work at “Hollywood Can Be Murder” at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Star Theater.

Be transported back to the golden age of Hollywood and to a glamorous big-budget film premiere. However, before the movie can be shown, murder is discovered and those most closely associated with the film are suspected. Can you unravel the clues to discover who is guilty before all is revealed? Follow along and write down the clues you discover along the way.

Join Barney for Plant Talk as he discusses his 40 years of gardening experience, experimenting with different plant species, and even some tips to help your green thumb become even greener. Presented with his usual informative and funny style you’ve grown to love in his Daily Chief-Union columns, Barney is sure to delight plant enthusiasts and new gardeners alike.

Plant Talk will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 in the library’s large meeting room.

Welcome to the Cryptic Café where the cases are cold, but the coffee is hot!

You're the detective in Cryptic Café, Upper Sandusky Community Library's newest program for students in grades 6-12. Meet downstairs in the boardroom at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and settle in. Miss Lisa has reopened a cold case and needs your help to find answers. Each clue you discover brings you closer to the truth. Will you be the one to solve the mystery?

The book for May is Nut and Bolt by Nicole de Cock. “Nut the mouse and Bolt the donkey are the very best of friends. And that is why they will do anything for each other. At least... Nut does everything for Bolt. But does Bolt do things for his friend as well? A beautifully illustrated tale about a touching friendship in which not everything needs to be in complete balance.”

Craft Party is celebrating Pet Month in May with a craft that will delight you and your cats.

Join Miss Rachel on Thursday, May 12 to create a cat vase catnip planter and catnip toys. You can take home the toys while also making additional ones that will be donated to the Wyandot County Humane Society. There’s no cost so grab a friend and make it a party!

Craft Party will be held in the large meeting room at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. Registration is required and begins Monday, May 2. Space is limited.

Think you’ve watched enough hours of television to dominate in the TV Trivia Binge Bowl? Then join Upper Sandusky Community Library staff as they present a trivia game for teens and adults featuring TV trivia from across the decades.

Common Readers will be reading “Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio” by Derf Backderf in May.

In this nonfiction graphic novel, Backderf conducted extensive interviews and research to explore the lives of four young people and the events of four days in May. “Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio” “is a moving and troubling story about the bitter price of dissent—as relevant today as it was in 1970.”

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 in the library’s large meeting room.

Get in on the program all kids love to do. Kids Can Cook, run by Youth Services Coordinator Jill Stansbery, is a program that teaches children basic cooking skills.

Learn self-defense techniques from a professional! Bee-Safe personal security instructor Jeremy Blanton will be on hand to demonstrate multiple techniques used in personal self-defense. The program will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 in the library’s large meeting room.
