One Pot Wonders

Have you ever been amazed by the potted succulent gardens you see in stores? Well, now it’s time to make your own. Learn how to build your own succulent garden during One Pot Wonders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25 in the library’s large meeting room. The succulents and soil will be provided, but you will have to supply your own pot. The pots should be 7-10 inches wide, shallow, and made of terracotta or ceramic with drainage holes. Registration for One Pot Wonders begins Monday, Sept. 18. Space is limited. Stop by the library or call 419-294-1345 to register.

Local Author Night

Hear from local authors about their books and what goes into writing! The next Local Author Night event will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Upper Sandusky Community Library’s large meeting room. The event will feature Maureen Kovach, a former Carey teacher who bases her mysteries around Lake Erie, children’s author Betty Lok, and fiction writer and columnist Jim Barney. Hear from these authors about their books, listen to them read excerpts from their work, and learn how they handle the challenges of writing.

Experiencing the wonder of a solar eclipse is truly an amazing and unforgettable moment for so many people. But how do they work? During this hour-long program, spectators will take a deep look into the science behind eclipses and how they occur. Audience members will learn the importance of eclipse viewing safety and how they can make their own at-home eclipse viewing device. It all takes place at 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 2 in Upper Sandusky Community Library’s large meeting room.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board of Trustees will convene for a meeting at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12. The library’s Board of Trustees meets on the second Thursday of each month to discuss library business. The meetings are open to the public.
