Coded StoryWalk®: Lost and Found

Get your family outside to stretch their legs, read a book, and solve a puzzle with Coded StoryWalk®.

The book for July is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. “What is a boy to do when a lost penguin shows up at his door? Find out where it comes from, of course, and return it. But the journey to the South Pole is long and difficult in the boy’s rowboat. There are storms to brave and deep, dark nights.To pass the time, the boy tells the penguin stories. Finally, they arrive. Yet instead of being happy, both are sad. That’s when the boy realizes: The penguin hadn’t been lost, it had merely been lonely.”

Before you begin your walk, stop by the library’s front desk and pick up a Coded Tales worksheet. As you walk from business to business, each page will be marked with a letter that should be written on the worksheet. When you finish the story, you will have spelled out a special message that you can return to the library to receive a prize.

The Coded StoryWalk® begins at the Upper Sandusky Community Library and continues in the windows of the following businesses: A Cut Above, Corner Inn, SURGE, Neumeister’s Candy Shoppe, Fay Family Dental Care, A.J.’s Heavenly Pizza, Johnson Orthodontics, The Barber Shop, Community First Bank, First Citizens National Bank, Woven Yoga, Richardson Flower, and Upper Fire Systems.
